This event was born out of deep love for our son, Samuel Shaer, on May 11, 2023, after a long and difficult battle within his mind. Samuel was deeply loved, deeply valued, and his life continues to leave an impact on all who knew him.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5

Today, we gather not only to remember Samuel, but to stand beside every person silently fighting battles of their own. We run for the hurting, the grieving, the struggling, and the ones who may feel unseen or alone. We run to remind others that their life matters and that hope is still possible.
Suicide and mental health struggles affect countless families, often behind closed doors and hidden behind smiles. Through this 5K, we hope to create a space where conversations about mental health are met with compassion, understanding, and support instead of silence and shame.
Whether you are participating in honor of Samuel, in memory of someone you love, or because your own story intersects with mental health, we are grateful you are here.
Thank you for helping us continue Samuel’s legacy by raising awareness, encouraging connection, and reminding others of this simple but powerful truth:
Round Robin Basketball Tournament is open for spectators to support and raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. Teams for the tournament have already been established.
